Money does not make you happy
Money does not make you happy or unhappy. It is your thoughts about it that create a positive or negative emotion.
People’s relationship with money is fascinating. We all know people who spend everything they have – and sometimes more - and those who won’t part with 2 cents (and you find yourself always being the one pays for dinner). The one common theme in both groups is “if I only had more, I would be happy”.
Money is an inanimate object. And, if you ponder it long enough, going to fiat currencies and away from gold and silver backed ones, the piece of paper or coin you are holding really only has an assigned value. Basically, we can spend or not based on a number that a bank has assigned to our account. Crazy, isn’t it!
It’s our THOUGHTS about money give it power. If you ask 10 people what having money means to them, you will likely get 10 different answers; some common ones are security, acceptance, power, ability to help others, choice of quality medical care, etc. Not having money answers may be: stress, scared, insecure, hungry, angry, self-doubt. For me, having money means choice – which doctors I see, what car I drive, what causes I support, do I cook in or eat out. Not having it brings up fear and scarcity.
Be curious about your own money mindset. Realize it is just a belief system and that you can change your thoughts around it if you choose.
